San Diego County Opens Community Development Grant Applications Through Oct. 30

Friday, October 9, 2026 · City · GSM News

San Diego is a city in San Diego County, California. San Diego County Housing and Community Development Services (HCDS) is accepting FY 2027–28 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications from September 21 through October 30, with proposals due by 3:00 p.m. on October 30.

The federal funds can support eligible public facilities, infrastructure, public services and economic-development activities that benefit low- and moderate-income residents in the county's unincorporated areas. Residents may recommend project ideas but do not receive funding directly; the intended applicants are nonprofits, County departments and participating city staff. HCDS says it can provide one-on-one technical assistance on eligibility, project requirements and completing the online application, and can be reached at [email protected].

The same county page also lists an affordable-housing funding opportunity: applications for acquisition, construction and/or rehabilitation of multifamily affordable housing are due by 2:00 p.m. on November 19, with a virtual industry day on October 15 from 3:00 to 3:30 p.m. Chinese-American associations and nonprofits in San Diego County with housing, community-service or public-facility projects should check the eligibility rules early rather than waiting until the deadline.
