CSU Teamsters Rally at San Diego State University: 1,100 Workers Press the University to Honor Promised Raises

Thursday, October 22, 2026 · City · GSM News

SAN DIEGO, California — Members of Teamsters Local 2010 rallied at Centennial Plaza at San Diego State University on Wednesday, October 21, calling on the California State University (CSU) system to honor its contract and pay workers the raises they are owed.

According to the union's October 21 news release, the group of 1,100 administrative and skilled trades workers ratified a Teamsters contract in 2024. The union accuses CSU of repeatedly engaging in anti-union conduct, including bargaining in bad faith and failing to pay the raises guaranteed by the contract, and calls on CSU to keep its promises and respect the contract.

The rally ran from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and was attended by Peter Finn, Teamsters Public Services and Health Care Division Director; Victor Mineros, President of Teamsters Joint Council 42; Jason Rabinowitz, Secretary-Treasurer of Teamsters Local 2010; and Assemblymember Liz Ortega (20th District). The California State University Employees Union and the California Faculty Association also sent representatives in support.

San Diego State University is one of the largest campuses in the CSU system, and the rally was part of the union's systemwide pressure campaign. (GSM, based on the Teamsters Local 2010 news release)
