Alaska Airlines to Launch Seattle Nonstops to Osaka and Papeete: Service Starts Spring 2027

Thursday, October 22, 2026 · City · GSM News

Seattle-Tacoma International Airport in Washington state will gain two transpacific nonstop routes. Alaska Air Group announced year-round nonstop service from Seattle to Osaka, Japan, starting May 14, 2027 with four flights a week, and to Papeete, Tahiti, starting June 11, 2027 with three flights a week. The group says these will be the only nonstop services connecting the city pairs, ending the need to connect through Tokyo or Los Angeles.

Both routes will be flown by Hawaiian Airlines widebody Airbus A330 aircraft with lie-flat business class suites and free high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi for loyalty members. Hawaiian's existing Honolulu services to Osaka and Papeete will continue. "We're just getting started, with more international destinations on the horizon as we grow as the leading global airline on the West Coast," said Ben Minicucci, president and CEO of Alaska Air Group. The group aims to make Seattle a global gateway serving at least 15 long-haul intercontinental destinations by 2030.

Introductory round-trip main cabin fares are on sale through October 26, starting at $999 to Papeete and $1,199 to Osaka. (GSM, based on Parade and Alaska Air Group announcements)
