Seattle Torrent Sign Second-Round Draft Pick Sydney Morrow as New Team Prepares for PWHL Season
The Seattle Torrent announced on October 21 that defender Sydney Morrow, selected in the second round, 14th overall, in the 2026 PWHL Draft, has signed a two-year standard player agreement through the 2027-28 season.
The 22-year-old from Stamford, Connecticut played at Ohio State (2022-23), Colgate (2023-24) and Minnesota (2024-26). She earned Second Team All-American and All-WCHA Second Team honors and was a top-three finalist for WCHA Defender of the Year. In 2025-26 she ranked third nationally among defenders with 38 points and second with 30 assists, while her plus-33 rating and 57 blocked shots ranked second on her team. She was named to the U.S. roster for the 2024 IIHF Women's World Championship and won silver at the 2022 U18 Worlds, and will compete for a spot at the 2026 Women's Worlds training camp October 23-30 in Plymouth, Michigan. With the signing, 18 of the 28 players invited to next month's training camp are under contract.
