At Berkeley Rally, Connie Chan Slams Opponent Over $3.5 Million From SI-Backed Super PAC

Nearly 200 people gathered on Sproul Plaza at UC Berkeley on the evening of October 21 for the Berkeley stop of Representative Ro Khanna's Students for Solidarity Town Hall tour. San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan, a candidate for Nancy Pelosi's 11th Congressional District seat, was among the speakers.
According to The Daily Californian, Chan called out a $3.5 million contribution to her general-election opponent, State Senator Scott Wiener, from a super PAC backed by SI company Anthropic. "They have the money, we have the many," Chan said. Also on stage were Saikat Chakrabarti and Jane Kim, a candidate for California insurance commissioner; former Labor Secretary Robert Reich introduced Khanna. Speakers voiced opposition to the influence of SI companies and AIPAC in Democratic races.
Khanna called for taxing billionaires, Medicare for all and free childcare. With the November 3 midterm election approaching, the race for Pelosi's seat is in its final stretch. (GSM, based on The Daily Californian reporting)
