First Portugal Investment Forum Opens in the Algarve: 300 Participants and 150 Investors on a Nine-Day, Three-City Programme

LAGOS — The first Portugal Investment Forum opened on October 1 in Lagos and Quinta do Lago in the Algarve. The nine-day nationwide programme moves on to Lisbon and Estoril before ending in Porto, with 15 panel discussions, each followed by an expert-led round table.

Organisers said the forum drew more than 300 participants, including over 150 investors and family-office representatives. Discussions focused on the forces behind Portugal's decade of economic expansion, what attracts international investors, and which industries offer the strongest long-term opportunities.

At the Lisbon gathering, Rogério Fernandes Ferreira, founder of RFF Lawyers and a former secretary of state for fiscal affairs, said investor confidence depends on clear regulations, consistent policies and trust — all essential to long-term financial commitments. Portugal, he said, has the ingredients; its next challenge is making sure they work together.

The forum closes in Porto on October 9. Portugal's economy has been growing faster than the euro-area average, with tourism, technology and renewable energy among the main magnets for foreign capital. How to turn that growth into sustainable, long-term benefits was the question running through the nine days.
