UAE Launches Investigation on October 1 into flydubai Flight FZ1073 Incident

The UAE Attorney General's office later disclosed that an investigation into the flydubai flight FZ1073 incident was launched on October 1. The incident occurred on September 30 aboard a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, which ended with an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia and injuries to the aircraft's captain.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the investigation set out to establish the facts of an alleged attack and attempted seizure of the aircraft, drawing on crew accounts, flight records and the background of the co-pilot involved. Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi said the inquiry began on October 1, the day after the incident, with findings released in stages.
Public information unfolded over the following ten days: the co-pilot was identified, his alleged radicalisation background was traced, and on October 9 to 10 the Attorney General announced the conclusion that a premeditated attack had been planned. The October 1 launch of the investigation was the starting point of that sequence, when the outside world knew only that a serious security incident had occurred.
For Chinese residents in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, flydubai is a main low-cost carrier for regional travel, and the FZ1073 case is a rare attempted in-flight seizure in UAE aviation. The public investigation itself served as an account to passengers and the industry.
