CPSC Recalls 37,000 Squishy Dumpling Toys the Same Week: Oversized Water Beads Pose Choking Hazard

WASHINGTON, Oct. 2 — Two brands of blind box squishy toys are among twelve new recalls published by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Oct. 1, according to USA Today's review of the list. ABC Trading recalled 37,000 Squishy Dumpling Toys and Crazy Squib Ball Toys because the water beads inside the toys can expand larger than permitted and pose a choking hazard if swallowed. No injuries had been reported for either toy as of Oct. 1.
The dumpling toys come in multiple translucent colors with glitter and water beads and cartoon faces, packaged in a tan plastic container resembling a bamboo steamer printed with 'SQUISHY DUMPLING,' model number 3655. The Crazy Squib Balls, model 3984, are packaged with 'CRAZY SQUIB BALL' and 'Squeeze it! Throw it!' printed on the label. Both were sold from April through June 2026 at ABC Trading stores in Los Angeles and other stores nationwide for between 41 cents and $1.25.
The CPSC updates its recall list every Thursday; this week's list also covers household items and toys sold through Amazon, Target, The Home Depot and Dollar Tree. Parents should stop using listed toys and contact the seller for a refund as directed in each notice, rather than passing the toys on.
