Riverside County Archives Opens Walk-In Access to Century-Old Records

Monday, October 5, 2026 · California · GSM News

Beginning Monday, Oct. 5, Riverside County's government archives can be visited on site without a prior appointment, Mondays through Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., except holidays. The archives are on the second floor of the County Administrative Center at 4080 Lemon St. in downtown Riverside and hold records going back more than a century to the county's incorporation.

Holdings include historical property-ownership records, assessment rolls and maps, land patents, and mining and water claims. For residents researching an older home's title history, land origins, family history, or a property purchase, walk-in access removes a layer of friction.

Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder Peter Aldana said the change is meant to make the records easier for residents, students, and researchers to explore. More information is available through the Riverside County Assessor-Clerk-Recorder's office or by calling 951-486-7327. (Sources: Riverside County Assessor-Clerk-Recorder and CNS.)
