Adelanto: GEO Group sells three immigration detention facilities to the federal government for $950 million
Adelanto is a city in San Bernardino County, California. The GEO Group announced on October 5 that it has sold its three immigration detention facilities in Adelanto to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for $950 million, with the transaction signed and closed on October 2.
The three facilities hold a combined 2,644 beds: the 1,280-bed Adelanto West ICE Processing Center, the 660-bed Adelanto East ICE Processing Center and the 704-bed Desert View Annex. GEO expects net proceeds of about $705 million after taxes and expenses, and will continue providing support services at the facilities under its existing contract with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
