US Pulls B-1 Bombers From UK Base After Credible Iranian Threats

The Pentagon confirmed it has urgently withdrawn B-1 bombers deployed at RAF Fairford in England back to their home stations in the US after receiving credible Iranian threat intelligence.
The New York Times first reported the move on Oct. 4. President Trump has warned Iran against obtaining nuclear weapons and said at a Nebraska rally that Iran could “take out” Los Angeles and San Diego, drawing fierce backlash from California officials. Tensions keep rising: a tanker reported an incident off Yemen, and Houthi forces were blamed for an attack on Saudi Arabia's Abha airport.
The B-1 is America's supersonic strategic bomber, capable of carrying a large conventional precision payload and often used as a deterrent signal. Pulling them from a forward base is seen as a precautionary move as Washington assesses Iranian retaliation risks. (Via NYT, MSN)
