Golden Week Day Six Draws 131,000 Visitors as Drone Show Lights Up the Macao Sky

MACAO — Visitor arrivals reached 131,000 on October 6, the sixth day of the mainland's National Day Golden Week, according to Public Security Police figures reported by TDM in the early hours of October 7. The number was down from the single-day peak of 210,000 on October 4 but remained at a high holiday level, and crossings at all checkpoints stayed smooth through the day.
That evening, a drone performance lit up the Macao sky as part of the festive programme. In its holiday policing summary, the Public Security Police said officers were added at viewing points during the drone shows on October 1 and 6 and the fireworks displays on October 1 and 4, guiding crowds and traffic, while police drones monitored traffic on the Sai Van Bridge to safeguard public safety and keep roads clear.
As the holiday neared its end, the pattern of visits shifted. Industry representatives later noted a trend toward staggered travel, saying events scheduled at the tail of the Golden Week helped sustain flows; on October 7, the final day, the trade assessed overall traffic as in line with expectations. Full-week arrival figures — 1.143 million from October 1 to 7 — were released by the Tourism Office after the holiday ended.
In financial data published the same day, the Monetary Authority of Macao reported that resident deposits rose 0.9 percent month on month in August, TDM reported on October 6. Resident deposits are watched as a gauge of local funds and consumer confidence, and growth on the eve of the peak consumption season echoed the improving tourism market. Police said holiday deployments at checkpoints and hotspots would continue until flows returned to normal levels.
