Abu Dhabi Adds 800 New Taxis, Including 500 Luxury Airport Cars for Zayed International

Tuesday, October 6, 2026 · World News · GSM News

Abu Dhabi's Integrated Transport Centre, known as Abu Dhabi Mobility, announced on October 6 that 800 new taxis are being added to the emirate's transport network in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Airports, to enhance mobility to and from Zayed International Airport. Of the total, 500 are luxury taxis dedicated to airport passengers, while another 300 have already been rolled out to support public transport.

Zayed International Airport is Abu Dhabi's new gateway, and growing passenger volumes demand stronger ground transport. Airport taxis are many travellers' first impression of a city, and the upgrade in capacity and vehicle standard is presented by officials as part of the airport experience.

The transport centre framed the move within continuing efforts to improve mobility services across the emirate, including capacity growth and service standardisation, with deployment matched to flight arrival peaks.

For Chinese families in Abu Dhabi, airport taxi availability directly shapes the cost and waiting time of getting home after late-night arrivals. For Chinese drivers and companies in the airport transfer business, a larger official fleet is both competition and a higher service benchmark for the whole market.
