Pro-Palestine Marches Held in More Than 50 Italian Cities, From Rome and Milan to Turin and Naples

On Saturday 10 October 2026, rallies and marches in support of Palestine were held on the same day in more than 50 Italian cities. The national mobilisation, held under the banner 'La fine del genocidio' ('The end of the genocide'), was promoted by Palestinian student movements, the Young Palestinians of Italy, the Association of Palestinians in Italy and the Arab-Palestinian Democratic Union, and was joined by hundreds of associations, trade unions, student collectives and political groups. The promoters' stated demands included an immediate end to the hostilities in Gaza, the unblocking of humanitarian aid and the withdrawal of the Israeli army.
In Rome, demonstrators gathered at the Colosseum at 14:00 and the march set off at 15:00 toward Piazzale Aldo Moro, by La Sapienza university. In Milan, the march left Piazza della Repubblica at about 17:30 toward San Babila, with participants calling for agreements with Israel to be halted and an embargo imposed. In Naples, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg was present at the march. ANSA reported that the marches passed off peacefully in most cities; demonstrations were also held the same day in other European cities including London, Paris and Zurich.
Turin saw the tensest moments of the day. More than 60 local organisations took part and about 8,000 people marched; near Piazza Castello the head of the march pushed against the police cordon, with shoving between demonstrators and officers, before the tension eased, part of the crowd entered the square and two cardboard effigies, of US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, were burned. The Turin prefecture had earlier banned takeaway sales of drinks in glass bottles and cans for the event, and prohibited the unjustified possession of helmets, masks and pyrotechnics.
In its evening report, ANSA noted that slogans praising the 7 October 2023 attack were heard in some squares; in Turin, local organisers' description of 7 October as a 'day of resistance' drew condemnation from local institutions. Organisers in Milan said a distinction should be drawn between opposition to the Israeli government's policies and antisemitism.
