NYCC: Kishimoto's New Naruto Manga 'Shadow Rising' Announced; Card Game Set for June 2027

Saturday, October 10, 2026 · Culture & Entertainment · GSM News

New York Comic Con 2026 became Naruto day on October 10. The official NARUTO channels revealed that original creator Masashi Kishimoto is writing a new manga, "Shadow Rising," with more details to come at Jump Festa in January 2027. The same panel announced that a crossover anime, "Naruto x Ninku," pairing the franchise with the 1990s shinobi manga Ninku, is in production.

According to IGN, the crossover anime is supervised by Kishimoto and Ninku creator Koji Kiriyama, with Noriyuki Abe directing and Tetsuya Nishio handling character design and serving as chief animation director. The project remains in early production with no release date announced.

Bandai Card Games also made major announcements: the NARUTO CARD GAME, which debuted at Gen Con 2026, will launch simultaneously worldwide in June 2027. The lineup includes three Starter Decks led by Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha and Gaara, plus the first Booster Pack, "Enter: Naruto Uzumaki!," featuring characters from both NARUTO and NARUTO SHIPPUDEN.

Bandai will begin in-store Premier Demo Events in February 2027, followed by a global campaign distributing one million demo decks starting in spring 2027. The NYCC presentation opened with the public premiere of a new teaser featuring original artwork by Studio Pierrot.

Industry observers say the triple push — a new manga, a crossover anime and a card game — shows the 27-year-old franchise entering a new commercial peak years after the original story concluded.
