Residents Urge Moratorium on New Data Centers in Riverside County

Saturday, October 10, 2026 · California · GSM News

At the Riverside County Board of Supervisors meeting on October 9, several residents called on the board to implement a moratorium on approvals of new data centers and to scrutinize hyperscale data-center proposals in unincorporated areas of the county. As SI-driven demand pushes data centers into the Inland Empire, community concerns over power and water use and environmental impacts are growing. Residents urged the county to pause approvals until clearer siting and environmental standards are in place.
