After 30 years in Hacienda Heights, I finally saw the famous rodeo in neighboring City of Industry with my own eyes — and it was far more spectacular than expected. Top riders from across the country competed, leaving the crowd dazzled; the stands were packed with spectators in full cowboy attire, and tickets had reportedly sold out long ago.

This is the Industry Hills Charity Pro Rodeo, the most famous rodeo in City of Industry. Sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA), the event celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, running October 10–11 at the Grand Arena of the Industry Hills Expo Center.

The program covers all the rodeo classics: heart-stopping bull riding, bareback and saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling, and team roping. Riders battle bucking bulls for eight seconds and decide races by hundredths of a second, drawing gasps from the stands at every turn.

Since its founding in 1986, the event has carried a charitable mission: all net proceeds go through The Gabriel Foundation to support disadvantaged youth and special-needs children across the San Gabriel Valley. Organizers say the rodeo has raised more than $2.6 million for community causes over the years.

Beyond the arena, the grounds feature Western-themed merchandise booths, food trucks, and family-friendly activities. Saturday night wraps up with a country dance party (8:30–11:30 PM), while Sunday is a family matinee.

Know before you go: the venue is at 16200 Temple Ave, City of Industry, CA 91744. Strict bag policy applies — only clear bags (up to 12x12x6 inches) or small clutches (up to 5x8x2 inches) are allowed. Tickets must be purchased through the official Industry Hills Charity Pro Rodeo ticketing site or authorized partners; no resale tickets are accepted.

Schedule: Saturday, Oct. 10 — gates open 4 PM, rodeo starts 6 PM. Sunday, Oct. 11 — gates open 12 PM, rodeo starts 2 PM. One more day to go — readers nearby may want to catch the Western action live.
