Sarah J. Maas's Sixth 'ACOTAR' Book Arrives October 27 in Multi-Volume Release

Fantasy bestseller Sarah J. Maas's highly anticipated sixth installment in the "A Court of Thorns and Roses" (ACOTAR) series, "A Court of Splintered Harmony," arrives October 27, with the seventh book, "A Court of Forgotten Melody," set for January 12, 2027. Publishing media report that Maas announced the titles and covers of both books on social media on August 17.

In a break from tradition, Maas is using a nontraditional multi-volume release. Appearing on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast in March, she revealed the sixth story kept growing as she wrote: "What if this book was really long? What if it took me more than a thousand pages to tell the story?" She ultimately divided the single cohesive story into four parts: part one publishes October 27 via Bloomsbury, parts two and three arrive together on January 12, 2027, and part four has yet to be written. Maas stressed: "It's meant to be read as one massive, massive story as opposed to in a trilogy. Arcs aren't wrapped up."

Subtitled "The Valkyrie Cycle: Movement I," the new books center on Nesta's rebuilt Valkyrie squad. The official blurb reveals the Night Court faces new threats as the book opens: Koschei the Deathless and those willing to ally with him to claim the newly freed human lands. The 352-page volume also includes three bonus chapters previously available only in specific editions.

Notably, Publishers Weekly reported that Bloomsbury's sales fell 10% in the 2025-2026 fiscal year because Maas released no new book, making this launch the publisher's most important publishing event of the year. Since mid-September, Bloomsbury has been teasing excerpts on social media.

The ACOTAR series, launched in 2015, is a global phenomenon in romantic fantasy with a massive following among young and campus readers.
