California Climate Credit Arrives in November: $17.52 to $111.83 for Customers of Three Utilities

Residential customers of Bear Valley Electric Service, Liberty Utilities and PacifiCorp (Pacific Power) will automatically receive the California Climate Credit on their November electric bills, the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) announced on October 12. The credits are $17.52, $71.98 and $111.83 respectively, with no application required; small-business customers of the three utilities are also eligible.
The credit is funded by allowance auction revenue from the state's Cap-and-Trade Program and returned to utility customers. After the passage of AB 1207, which extends the program through 2045, the CPUC rescheduled the credit to land in the months when household electric bills run highest.
Small-business customers continue to receive the credit twice a year, in April and October. Earlier this year the CPUC also moved the credit for the state's larger electric providers to coincide with their highest-bill months.
