Monday, October 12, 2026 · California · GSM News

Two children are dead and a man is in custody after what Los Angeles police are investigating as a possible attempted murder-suicide in the Pico-Union area of Los Angeles. LAPD responded to a shooting call near the intersection of Venice Boulevard and South Catalina Street, near Loyola High School, on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 11. A 4-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy were found with gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at a hospital. A man, 30 to 40 years old, was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound; he was taken into custody and transported to a hospital. LAPD officers Norma Eisenman and Alely Lopez said the incident appeared to occur outdoors and there is no ongoing threat to the community. The relationship between the children and the man is under investigation; NBC Los Angeles, ABC7 and the Los Angeles Times reported the suspect is believed to be the children's father.
