Rebuilt Huanggang Port Opens in Shenzhen: World's Largest Land-Port Complex Cuts Crossing Time to About Five Minutes

The rebuilt Huanggang Port in Shenzhen, the most important 24-hour passenger land crossing between Shenzhen and Hong Kong, formally reopened at 6:30 a.m. on October 12 after seven years of reconstruction, Xinhua reported. The port operates under a co-location arrangement with a new “joint inspection, one release” model, cutting overall passenger clearance time from about 30 minutes to roughly five minutes.
The new complex is China's largest single port building and the world's largest land-port complex, with four underground and five above-ground floors totalling 689,700 square metres, and five rail lines planned to converge there. It has 134 joint-inspection e-channels and 68 staffed counters; travellers queue once, present documents once and verify identity once, with e-channel processing taking about 20 seconds. Design capacity is 200,000 travellers a day, rising to 300,000 once Hong Kong's Northern Link spur opens. Vehicles use a first-of-its-kind “five-in-one” joint inspection lane, cutting vehicle clearance from about 10 minutes to about two. First opened in 1989, Huanggang was China's first large land port with round-the-clock clearance; reconstruction began in 2019. (Source: Xinhua)
