U.S., UK and 27 Other Nations Condemn Iran in Joint Statement, Back UK Attribution of RAF Fairford Attack

The United States, the United Kingdom, and 27 other governments issued a joint statement on October 12 condemning "in the strongest terms" Iran's use of violent attacks, including lethal plotting, arson, sabotage, cyber-attacks, and other hybrid activities against them and their partners. Signatories include Australia, Canada, France, and Germany.
The statement recognizes the United Kingdom's attribution of Iran's involvement in the September 27 incident at RAF Fairford, where an attempted terrorist attack targeted the air base used by U.S. bombers. The UK has also concluded the event demonstrates the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' continued willingness to project hostile activity beyond Iran's borders through covert networks and proxy actors.
The governments noted that the statement comes soon after a recent campaign of attacks across Europe targeting Jewish communities, Iranian journalists, and U.S. interests, claimed by Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya (HAYI). They warned that any attempt by Iran to threaten, silence, intimidate, harass, harm, or coerce people on their territories through proxies or any other means is unacceptable, and pledged to identify, investigate, disrupt, and prosecute such acts while strengthening international coordination and protecting their communities.
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham told Parliament the same day that the Fairford plot was "highly likely" coordinated in Iran and "almost certainly" directed by the IRGC; the UK also sanctioned two Iranian individuals and summoned Iran's ambassador.
