Menifee Holds Dedication Ceremony for 350-Foot Freedom Bridge

Tuesday, October 13, 2026 · California · GSM News

Menifee is a city in Riverside County, California. The City of Menifee held a ceremony on October 13 to mark the official opening of the Freedom Bridge at Bradley Road, with city leaders, elected officials, staff and community members in attendance. The bridge was completed and opened to traffic earlier this month (GSM reported on October 10); the October 13 event was the city's formal dedication ceremony. The 350-foot bridge resolves historic flooding at Bradley Road and Salt Creek, where the road was routinely forced to close during major storms. Originally named the "Bradley Road Bridge over Salt Creek," the bridge was renamed "Freedom Bridge" by the Menifee City Council on the recommendation of the city's Veterans and Military Families Advisory Committee, and it displays banners honoring all six branches of the U.S. military in tribute to Menifee's veterans and military community. "The opening of Freedom Bridge represents another significant investment in Menifee's infrastructure," said Mayor Pro Tem and District 1 Councilmember Bob Karwin. The city said the bridge keeps Bradley Road reliably connected north to south during storms, removes the safety hazard of drivers crossing flooded roadway, shortens emergency response times, and includes dedicated bicycle lanes and sidewalks. The $16 million project was funded by the City of Menifee Quality of Life Measure, federal funds, Riverside County Flood Control and the Local Transportation Climate Adaptation Program (LTCAP).
