San Clemente: OCTA Completes Catchment Wall, Reopens Beach Trail

San Clemente is a city in Orange County, California. The Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) announced that its rail-protection project at Mariposa Point in San Clemente is complete, and the beach trail reopened on October 9. The $93 million project built a 1,400-foot catchment wall to protect the Los Angeles–San Diego rail corridor from bluff debris and erosion; the reopened beach trail portion cost $24 million, funded by state and federal sources. OCTA said reinforcement and sand-replenishment work along the corridor will continue.
