Orange County Supervisors Settle Two Lawsuits: $8.75M Crash Case and $800K Harassment Claim

Wednesday, October 14, 2026 · California · GSM News

SANTA ANA, Oct. 13 — The Orange County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday announced settlements of two unrelated lawsuits, one involving a crash with an Orange County Sheriff's Department vehicle in Santa Ana and the other a sexual harassment claim against a former county prosecutor, MyNewsLA reported.

In the crash case, the lawsuit alleged that Deputy Jeremiah Wayne Peyus was speeding without emergency lights or sirens activated when his vehicle struck a car carrying Megan Doan and Jan Tan at 17th and McClay streets on December 29, 2023, leaving both women significantly injured. The supervisors voted unanimously on Tuesday for the $8.75 million settlement.

In the harassment case, a woman who began working for the Orange County District Attorney's Office in April 2020 sued the county and former prosecutor Jess Rodriguez, among others, alleging repeated unwelcome sexual advances and lewd text messages. The board announced the claim was finalized when the plaintiff accepted $800,000 on September 29. The case grew out of a series of harassment matters involving the late former prosecutor Gary LoGalbo; the county had previously settled the remaining claims.
