Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station to Host Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Oct. 24

Wednesday, October 14, 2026 · California · GSM News

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Santa Clarita Valley Station announced via Nixle on October 14 that it will host a National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event on Saturday, October 24, where residents can turn in unused or expired prescription medication for safe disposal.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Santa Clarita Valley Station, 26201 Golden Valley Road, Santa Clarita, CA 91350. It is part of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration's National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, with law enforcement agencies across the country hosting collection sites the same day. Drop-offs are anonymous, with no questions asked; under the program's uniform rules, sites accept pills and patches, while liquids, needles and sharps are not accepted.

The Sheriff's Department notes that expired or unused prescription drugs left at home can be accidentally ingested by children or misused by others, and that flushing them can contaminate water supplies. The take-back event offers residents a free, safe disposal option. The Santa Clarita Valley Station serves the City of Santa Clarita and surrounding canyon communities.
