Fire Rips Through East Hollywood Apartment Building: 160 Firefighters Respond, One Woman Hospitalized

Thursday, October 15, 2026 · California · GSM News

LOS ANGELES — A fire that broke out at 4:24 a.m. on October 15 in the basement of a three-story apartment building at 560 N. Kingsley Dr. in East Hollywood spread through concealed wall spaces into units on multiple floors, forcing residents to evacuate, the Los Angeles Fire Department said. About 160 firefighters battled the blaze for hours, and the building's first floor was left structurally compromised.

Aerial footage from KABC showed thick smoke pouring from the roof and apartment windows, with flames shooting out of several units. A woman who was inside the building was taken to a hospital; her condition was not immediately known. The American Red Cross assisted displaced residents, MTA buses were brought in to transport evacuees, and traffic in the area was disrupted, with drivers advised to take alternate routes.

The fire department said the hidden spread of flames inside the walls complicated the firefight. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
