St. Louis: Republic Services Breaks Ground on Bridgeton Recycling Center Processing 45 Tons Per Hour, Opening in 2028

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Missouri — Republic Services broke ground on October 15 on a new recycling center in Bridgeton, in St. Louis County; the 105,000-square-foot facility is expected to open in 2028. (This story is filed from the company's October 15 announcement as a backfill.)
The company says the center will be able to process up to 45 tons of recyclables per hour, roughly nine truckloads, and will be equipped with optical sorters and AI systems. Construction is expected to support up to 200 jobs, with about 60 full-time positions once the center opens.
The new facility will serve approximately 3 million residents and businesses in the Greater St. Louis area. Chief Operating Officer Gregg Brummer described the project in the announcement as an investment in the region's recycling capacity.
Republic Services employs more than 1,000 people in Missouri and operates 80 recycling centers nationwide; in 2025 it diverted 6.4 million tons of recyclables.
