County Supervisor Gutierrez Tours Mt. San Jacinto College's San Jacinto Campus to Discuss Workforce Partnerships

Thursday, October 15, 2026 · California · GSM News

SAN JACINTO — San Jacinto is a city in Riverside County, California. Mt. San Jacinto College's San Jacinto Campus recently hosted a visit by a county official. According to an MSJC news release dated September 29, Riverside County Fifth District Supervisor Dr. Yxstian Gutierrez toured the campus that day, welcomed by Superintendent/President Dr. Tawny Dotson and Board of Trustees Area 2 Trustee Calvin Smith.

The release said the tour highlighted MSJC's academic programs, student support services and learning spaces, as well as opportunities to strengthen partnerships between the college and Riverside County. The discussion focused on future collaboration around workforce development and connecting students with regional careers, and also explored healthier-community initiatives including Blue Zones, and expanding youth employment and internships that give young people work experience and pathways to future careers.

Stops on the tour included the print shop and the gymnasium, art classes where students were working hands-on with 3D models, and the library and Learning Resource Center. At each stop, Gutierrez spoke directly with faculty and staff about their work with students. Dotson said in the release that partnerships with Riverside County can create tremendous opportunities for students and the communities the college serves.

This is a school-and-county services update: the City of San Jacinto and local agencies issued no new single-item release this week, and MSJC's September 29 release is the most recent institutional news from within the city, whose campus sits in San Jacinto itself.
