Denver Pioneers Raise 11th Championship Banner at Magness Arena Against Michigan

Denver is a city in Denver County, Colorado (a consolidated city-county). The University of Denver Pioneers men's hockey team raised its 11th national championship banner to the Magness Arena rafters on the night of October 16, before facing No. 2 Michigan, one of the teams Denver beat on its way to last season's title, according to NCAA.com's live coverage.
Denver also debuted limited-edition "Golden Era" uniforms: a gold sweater with a red script "Pioneers" wordmark, two-tone zig-zag gold stitching, and a "National C11ampions" shoulder patch in which a gold "11" replaces the H, marking the program's 11th championship, won at last season's Frozen Four in Las Vegas.
Denver played without last season's playoff star goaltender Johnny Hicks, who was out of the lineup. Alaska Anchorage transfer Tyler Krivtsov made his second start of the season. Hicks, who made 49 saves in the double-overtime Frozen Four semifinal against Michigan, set the NCAA single-season save percentage record last season and has yet to lose a college game at 17-0-1.
