Honolulu's Kaleimao Village Nears Completion With 126 Affordable Rentals in Ewa Beach

Honolulu is a city in Honolulu County, Hawaii (a consolidated city-county). Kaleimaʻo Village, an affordable housing project in ʻEwa Beach, Honolulu, is nearing completion ahead of schedule. A pre-opening blessing was held on Thursday, October 15, attended by Governor Josh Green, Mayor Rick Blangiardi, state and city officials, and development partners Stanford Carr Development and Standard Communities.
The $60 million development, built on about 3.7 acres of city-owned land at 91-1400 Renton Road, includes 127 rental units, including one manager's unit, across seven three-story residential buildings. The city supported the project through a 75-year ground lease and approximately $30 million in Private Activity Bond financing. The homes will serve households earning at or below 60 percent of the area median income, including seven units reserved for households at or below 30 percent of the median.
"Just about 17 months ago, we were standing on this very site, breaking ground on Kaleimaʻo Village, and today we are celebrating a development that is preparing to welcome its first local families," Blangiardi said. The project is opening in two phases: the first phase of 79 units and community facilities is nearly finished, with first residents expected in late October or early November; the remaining 48 units are expected by early December, with full occupancy targeted by April 2027.
