Honolulu Marks One Year of Skyline Segment 2: Over 6 Million Rides and 99% Reliability

Honolulu is a city in Honolulu County, Hawaii (a consolidated city-county). Honolulu's Department of Transportation Services is marking one year of operations for Skyline Segment 2, the city announced on October 16. The nation's first fully automated, elevated rail transit system opened Segment 2 on October 16, 2025, adding four stations and five miles of service.
The expansion strengthened connections to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, Mapunapuna and the Kalihi Transit Center at Middle Street. Since then, the system has provided over 6 million rides through its 13 stations, connecting East Kapolei and Kalihi, with ridership rising to nearly 13,500 weekday rides and service reliability above 99 percent.
'What an incredible year it has been for Skyline. More than 6 million rides, record ridership, and a system that continues to operate with better than 99 percent reliability,' said Mayor Rick Blangiardi, adding that construction will continue toward Downtown Honolulu and the Civic Center.
