Illumination Foundation Marks 10 Years of Family Emergency Homes in Orange County, Luncheon Raises Over $278,000

Illumination Foundation, an Orange County nonprofit, is marking the 10th anniversary of its Family Emergency Homes program, operated with HomeAid Orange County | Los Angeles. The foundation's sixth annual Women's Philanthropy Luncheon, held October 9 at the Waterfront Beach Resort in Huntington Beach, drew about 150 attendees and raised more than $278,000.
The program began in 2016 with its first home, Theriault House in Stanton, which has nine bedrooms and can house up to eight families experiencing homelessness. Over ten years the program has grown to six homes: Theriault House in Stanton; Murphy House, Gilbert House and Plumeria House in Anaheim; Shah Happiness House in Lake Forest; and the Children and Family Recuperative Care center in Santa Ana, opened in 2024 with CalOptima funding as the first facility of its kind in the nation for children and families. The homes have served 540 families, including 1,096 children — 1,883 individuals in total.
CEO Dr. Pooja Bhalla reflected on the program's decade of work at the luncheon.
