Highway 101 at Hospital Curve in San Francisco Closes Again This Weekend for Repaving

Caltrans will again close Highway 101 at Hospital Curve in San Francisco this weekend for repaving, according to the agency and local reports on October 16. All southbound lanes and one northbound lane between westbound Interstate 80 and Cesar Chavez Street close from Friday, October 16 at 11 p.m., and the road is expected to reopen Monday, October 19 at 6 a.m.
Caltrans published detours including the 5th Street offramp via Harrison and 6th Street to the southbound 280 onramp, and the 8th Street (signed 9th Street) offramp via Harrison and Potrero Street to the 101 southbound onramp. Alongside the 101 work, northbound Interstate 280 between Mariposa Street and the 280/101 interchange will lose two lanes overnight, from 10 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday and from 10 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday, with one lane remaining open.
Caltrans said another closure next month is tentatively scheduled for November 6 to 9 to complete repaving the southbound lanes. Major weekend events in the city, including a 5K run at Golden Gate Park, are expected to add to traffic pressure.
