Caltrans, CDCR and Partners Launch New Training Program at California Institution for Men
Caltrans, the California Correctional Training and Rehabilitation Authority (CALCTRA), the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and the Ironworkers have launched a new training program at the California Institution for Men in Chino, CDCR announced on October 16. The keynote speaker at the launch event was Maynard Walker, a graduate of the CALCTRA system.
Walker completed CALCTRA's Commercial Dive program at the California Institution for Men. He returned home in 2015 and started working for Caltrans in Southern California as an Equipment Operator II, and has since been promoted to Caltrans Maintenance Supervisor.
'I want to congratulate all of you taking the first step and committing to this program. Caltrans has been so good to me, and it will be for you as well,' Walker told the new participants. 'Continue to make good decisions and stay determined. You all may hear a bunch of no's, but trust me, you will get a yes.' (GSM, based on the CDCR report)
