Chinese-American cellist Yo-Yo Ma will bring his new special project, Wisdom for a Broken World, to Taipei's National Concert Hall starting October 18. According to presenter MNA, the Taiwan run opens on Sunday, October 18 at 4:00 p.m. at the National Concert Hall in Taipei, followed by a second Taipei performance on Monday, October 19 at 7:45 p.m., and a Taichung performance on Wednesday, October 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the National Taichung Theater as part of the 2026 Taichung International Superstar Music Festival.

Ma will be joined by special guest Jeremy Dutcher, the Canadian Indigenous tenor, pianist Yun Janice Lu, violinist Keila Wakao, and Taiwan's Paiwan group TBT Taiwu Ancient Ballads. The program includes Shostakovich's Piano Trio No. 2 in E minor, Op. 67, the eighth movement 'Louange à l'immortalité de Jésus' from Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time, and the 'Wisdom for a Broken World' segment curated by Dutcher. The performance runs about 100 minutes including intermission.

The presenter describes the project as beginning with a single cello and exploring the relationships between people, nature and the land, continuing Ma's long-running theme that 'culture connects us.' Taipei tickets were priced from NT$1,980 to NT$5,980, with youth seats at NT$300, and went on general sale on August 18; the MNA ticketing page is now taking waitlist registrations.
