Panthers Activate Tackle Moton and Several Others from Injury Lists

Charlotte is a city in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina. The Carolina Panthers announced a series of roster moves on Saturday, Oct. 17: offensive tackle Taylor Moton was activated from the physically unable to perform (PUP) list and could make his 2026 season debut. Moton missed all of training camp and the first weeks of the season with a blood clot in his lung; he returned to practice this week, and the team made the activation official on Saturday.
The Panthers also activated defensive lineman Turk Wharton and running back Trevor Etienne from injured reserve, and elevated running back Anthony Tyus and cornerback Robert Rochell from the practice squad to fill out the game-day roster. If Moton returns, he is expected to reclaim his familiar right tackle spot — first-round pick Monroe Freeling has been filling in there but is questionable with a knee injury.
Carolina's offensive line has been hit hard by injuries this season, and Moton's return matters for protecting the quarterback and steadying the run game. As the team's longtime starting right tackle, his experience is exactly what the young line needs. The team has not announced his snap plan for this week's game; the coaching staff said the final decision will depend on how his body responds in practice.
