Nuggets Guard Julian Strawther Out With Left Knee Sprain, to Be Re-Evaluated in About Six Weeks

DENVER — Denver is a city in Denver County, Colorado (a consolidated city-county). Denver Nuggets guard/forward Julian Strawther will be out indefinitely after spraining his left knee in a preseason game against the Los Angeles Clippers, the team announced. He will be re-evaluated in approximately six weeks. Strawther was injured in the third quarter when his foot came out from under him as he pivoted with the ball; he stayed on the ground for a couple of minutes before being helped to the locker room. An MRI detected a sprain, ruling out a more serious injury.
The 24-year-old, taken 29th overall in the 2023 draft out of Gonzaga, played 57 games last season and averaged 7.2 points, and was expected to see an increased role off the bench this season. He will miss the regular-season opener at the Oklahoma City Thunder on October 22 and the opening weeks of the season, with a return possible in December.
The Nuggets said the timetable reflects a cautious approach rather than a rushed return, and Denver's perimeter rotation depth will be tested early in the season. (GSM, based on Associated Press and Reuters reporting)
