Lions Jump Eight Spots to No. 12 in CBS Week 6 Power Rankings Behind League-Best 32.8 Points Per Game
DETROIT — Detroit is a city in Wayne County, Michigan. After a 45-21 dismantling of the Arizona Cardinals on October 11, the Detroit Lions jumped eight spots to No. 12 in CBS Sports expert Pete Prisco's Week 6 NFL power rankings, updated October 18. "The offense continued to be good in the victory over the Cardinals, while the defense made strides. They got pressure up front, which helped the bad secondary," Prisco wrote.
The 3-2 Lions are tied for the league's highest-scoring offense at 32.8 points per game, led by running back Jahmyr Gibbs and quarterback Jared Goff. Goff threw for 271 yards and three touchdowns against Arizona and registered his first rushing touchdown since 2023; Gibbs rushed 25 times for 151 yards and two touchdowns.
Concerns remain on defense: Detroit's secondary is surrendering the most passing yards per game (297.4) and the defense the most total yards per game (404.4) in the NFL. On the positive side, safety Brian Branch has opened his 21-day practice window and could return to the active roster in time for the October 25 home game against the Green Bay Packers.
