Miami Hurricanes Reach No. 1 in Coaches Poll for First Time Since December 2002 With 50 First-Place Votes

MIAMI — Miami is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida. After one of the most consequential Saturdays in recent college football memory, the Miami Hurricanes reached the summit of the latest US LBM Coaches Poll released on October 18, receiving 50 of the 73 first-place votes. It is the first time since December 2002 that Miami sits atop the coaches poll.
The top of the rankings was reshuffled: No. 1 Georgia, No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 5 Indiana (which lost to No. 4 Ohio State) all fell on the same day, while Miami survived a 43-35 double-overtime thriller against rival Florida State. Ohio State jumped to No. 2, BYU rose five spots to No. 3 after beating Notre Dame at home, and Georgia dropped to No. 4.
Miami will next host Pittsburgh on October 24 at noon at Hard Rock Stadium. (GSM, based on the Palm Beach Post reporting)
