DeBrincat Ties It Late, Red Wings Beat Sharks 4-3 in Shootout
Detroit is a city in Wayne County, Michigan. The Detroit Red Wings rallied at Little Caesars Arena on Saturday, October 17: Alex DeBrincat scored the tying goal on his own rebound with 1:33 left in the third period, and Lucas Raymond scored the only goal of the shootout to lift Detroit past the San Jose Sharks 4-3.
Down 3-2 with under two minutes left, the Red Wings pulled goaltender John Gibson for an extra attacker, and DeBrincat buried the rebound to force overtime. Raymond then won it in the shootout — notable because Detroit's shooters had been 0-for-8 in shootouts this season before his goal.
Emmitt Finnie had a goal and an assist, and Gibson made 31 saves. Detroit improved to 3-3-2 with points in four straight games. For San Jose, top pick Macklin Celebrini had a goal and two assists, but the Sharks allowed a 6-on-5 tying goal for the second straight game.
