Miami Survives Florida State 43-35 in Double Overtime to Stay Unbeaten

Sunday, October 18, 2026 · City · GSM News

Miami is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The No. 3 Miami Hurricanes survived a thriller at Hard Rock Stadium on Saturday, October 17, beating rival Florida State 43-35 in double overtime to keep their unbeaten season alive.

The finish was steeped in controversy. After Miami scored a touchdown and the two-point conversion to open the second overtime, Florida State quarterback Ashton Daniels appeared to hit Micahi Danzy for a 31-yard touchdown on fourth-and-21 — wiped out by a holding penalty. On fourth-and-31, Daniels heaved another pass to the end zone for Duce Robinson that looked caught, but officials ruled it a Miami interception, upheld on review to end the game. Both of Florida State's dramatic would-be equalizers were erased by the officials, sparking heated debate.

Miami made the decisive plays late, and coach Mario Cristobal's team escaped with its playoff position intact in a Week 7 full of top-10 upsets.
