Pelicans Waive Bufkin and Moore to Reach Regular-Season Roster Limit

New Orleans is a city in Orleans Parish, Louisiana. The New Orleans Pelicans announced on Saturday, October 17, that Kobe Bufkin and Jalon Moore have been placed on waivers, trimming the roster to the regular-season limit. Hoops Rumors' Arthur Hill reported the moves as New Orleans' final adjustments before opening night.
Bufkin, the No. 15 pick in the 2023 draft by Atlanta, is 23 and has played 43 NBA games over three seasons. Last season he signed a 10-day contract with the Lakers, appeared in 16 games, and was waived before the regular season ended. He signed a training-camp deal with New Orleans in July but did not make the team; his contract has no Exhibit 10 clause, so he is not expected to join the Pelicans' G League affiliate. Moore, on an Exhibit 10 deal, tore his Achilles before the 2025 draft and played three Summer League games for New Orleans this year.
After the cuts, the Pelicans have 14 fully guaranteed contracts, Trendon Watford on a partial guarantee, and all three two-way slots filled. The 2026-27 season opens October 20, and New Orleans' final roster is set.
