Hurricanes Rally Past Jets 3-2 for Seventh Straight Win
Raleigh is a city in Wake County, North Carolina. The Carolina Hurricanes rallied for a 3-2 road win over the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday, October 17, extending their season-opening win streak to seven games and keeping them atop the league.
Playing without captain Jordan Staal and Taylor Hall, among others, Carolina trailed 2-1 before storming back. Mark Jankowski scored to extend his goal streak to six games, tying the third-longest in franchise history, and the Hurricanes added two more to complete the comeback — including the winner from Nikolaj Ehlers against his former team; Ehlers has now scored against all 32 NHL teams in his career.
Goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov improved to 5-0-0, becoming the second netminder in franchise history to open a season with five straight wins, and the Hurricanes set a franchise record with their first 5-0 road start. The defending champions remain red-hot to open the season.
