Metrolink 91/Perris Valley Line Suspended This Weekend for Perris Station Work, Service Resumes Monday

Sunday, October 18, 2026 · California · GSM News

PERRIS — Perris is a city in Riverside County, California. Metrolink service on the 91/Perris Valley Line was suspended on Saturday, October 17 and Sunday, October 18, with no trains stopping at the Perris-South, Perris-Downtown, Moreno Valley/March Field or Riverside-Hunter Park/UCR stations, the Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) said. Regular service resumes on Monday, October 19.

The weekend closure allows construction crews to work on the Perris-South Station Expansion Project. RCTC, working with the City of Perris, expanded the station's parking in June 2025 to 402 spaces. The project will also add a second passenger platform, extend the existing platform and lay a second track so two trains can board at the same time, with the lengthened platform able to serve 10-car trains. Construction began in 2024 and is expected to be completed in 2028.

The 91/Perris Valley Line connects Perris with Los Angeles via Riverside and Orange County and is a key commuter rail link for southwestern Riverside County; RCTC owns and maintains the line's stations within the county.

The Riverside County Transportation Commission (RCTC) said no substitute bus or shuttle service would be provided during the closure, and riders at the affected stations would need to arrange other transportation. The project carries an estimated total investment of about $40 million. (GSM, based on the RCTC announcement)
