SCOTRUN, Pa. — Metallica Rose Harrison, 27, has been charged with two counts of criminal homicide after police say she stabbed her husband and their 3-year-old son to death inside a guest room at the Great Wolf Lodge resort in Pocono Township, Pennsylvania, on Monday, October 12, before injuring herself. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for October 21.

According to the criminal complaint, Harrison called 911 shortly after 3 p.m. and said her husband and son were "already gone" and that she wanted to die. Officers responding to Room 2030 found Charles Harrison, 36, with multiple stab wounds to the chest and the couple's 3-year-old son with a single stab wound to the chest; both were pronounced dead at the scene. Harrison, who had wounds to her wrist and neck, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital–Monroe Campus in Stroudsburg. Police recovered a large butcher knife and a smaller knife, both with teal handles, from the bathroom; resort staff confirmed neither knife belonged to the lodge. The family had been staying at the resort since September 21 and was due to check out on October 13.

District Attorney Mike Mancuso called the killings a "violent domestic tragedy," and Pocono Township police said there was no ongoing threat to the community. Autopsies for both victims were scheduled for later that week.

A search-warrant application reported on October 15 states that Charles Harrison's mother and sister told investigators Harrison was dominant and controlling, had said she never wanted to get pregnant, and resented her son for taking one-on-one time away from her and her husband, isolating the family from his relatives for about three years. Police later executed a search warrant at the family's home in Towanda, Pennsylvania. The details are allegations contained in court filings; Harrison has not been convicted.
