Papablic Bedside Sleepers Recalled: Displaced Mattress Can Trap and Suffocate Babies, CPSC Says

Sunday, October 18, 2026 · Federal · GSM News

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on October 15 the recall of Papablic convertible bedside sleepers with play yard extensions, about 248 units, under recall No. 27-027. The CPSC said the products violate the mandatory safety standard for play yards: the mattress can become displaced, causing a baby to become entrapped between the sleeping pad and the bottom, posing a deadly suffocation hazard; the latching and locking mechanism can also fail, causing the product to collapse and posing risks of serious injury, entrapment and falls.

The recall covers model PAPA03001AI, distributed by Papablic, Inc., doing business as Papablic, of Chicago, Illinois, and manufactured in China. The sleepers function as both a bassinet and a play yard, with a gray exterior, an interior printed with a stars-and-moon pattern and the word "Papablic" stitched in white on the front gray fabric panel; the model number is printed on a label sewn to the interior fabric underneath the mattress pad. They were sold from April 2025 through July 2026 for about $190 at Amazon.com and papablic.com.

Under the recall, consumers should stop using the product right away and follow the company's instructions for a refund after proof of destruction.
