Railtown 1897 State Historic Park Continues Harvest Haunt Today With a Critters & Creatures Theme

JAMESTOWN — Railtown 1897 State Historic Park in Jamestown, Tuolumne County, continues its Halloween-themed Harvest Haunt today, October 18, inviting young visitors to come in costume. This weekend's suggested theme, October 17–18, is Critters & Creatures. The park is located at 10501 Reservoir Road, Jamestown, CA 95327.
According to the park's 2026 event schedule published by California State Parks, Harvest Haunt is a daytime themed event running across several October weekends — witches and wizards on October 10–11 and princesses and pirates on October 24–25 — while the Skeleton Starlight evening special trains run on October 17, 24 and 31. The October 31 Harvest Haunt is the season finale and the final day of excursion train rides for the season. Trains and special events require tickets, and the park notes that events are subject to change or cancellation.
Operated by California State Parks with assistance from the California State Railroad Museum Foundation, Railtown 1897 preserves Sierra Railway locomotives, rolling stock and its historic roundhouse, and is known as the Movie Railroad for its many film and television appearances. Excursion trains run on weekends from April through October, and park hours in that season are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Information: (209) 984-3953.
