Tennessee Governor Bill Lee to Visit Taiwan on Oct. 20-21

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee will visit Taiwan on Oct. 20-21, according to the schedule released by the governor's office. Tennessee has close trade ties with Taiwan, where several Taiwanese companies maintain operations, and U.S. southeastern states have been courting Taiwanese investment in semiconductors and electric-vehicle supply chains. Visits by U.S. state governors to Taiwan have become frequent in recent years, focusing on trade, supply-chain resilience and education exchanges, and are seen as part of the broader Taiwan-U.S. partnership. Lee, a Republican in office since 2019, governs a state whose capital is Nashville and whose economy rests on auto manufacturing and healthcare; FedEx is headquartered in Memphis. The governor's office has not released a detailed itinerary or meeting list, and Taiwan's foreign ministry typically issues briefing materials ahead of such visits. GSM will follow up once official details are published.
