Wildomar Council Appoints Sole Nominees to District 1 and 3 Seats, Bypassing November Ballot

Wildomar — Wildomar is a city in Riverside County, California. The City of Wildomar's election page states that the City Council has unanimously voted to appoint Carlos Marquez, the sole nominee for District 1, and Joseph Morabito, the sole nominee for District 3, to the City Council, each for a four-year term running from December 2026 to December 2030.
According to the city, the appointments were completed under California Elections Code Section 10229, which allows a city council to appoint a sole nominee when only one candidate is nominated for a seat after the nomination period closes; appointees take office as if they had been elected. The District 1 and District 3 seats will therefore not appear on the ballot in the consolidated general municipal election scheduled for November 3, 2026.
The election for the District 5 council seat will proceed as scheduled. The city's election page notes that the write-in candidate period for District 5 opened on September 7 and closes on October 20, and that write-in candidates do not appear on the official ballot. Wildomar City Hall is located at 23873 Clinton Keith Road, Suite 110, Wildomar, CA 92595.
